The Great Auroral Storm of March 31st, 2001
8.05 hours U.T. (Universal Time) (8.05 p.m. N.Z.S.T.) Looking east towards Palmerston North (glow at the bottom) from Glen Oroua. The big red beam is part of the Proton or Hydrogen Arc that precedes the green arc further south. Photos by Ian Cooper using a 28mm lens @f/2.8. 30 second exposure on Fuji 400 film.
