The Great Auroral Storm of March 31st, 2001
8.09 hrs U.T. Looking west we see where the green arc and the Proton Arc curl back over the horizon. this was the greatest advance northward of the green arc. Over the next 2.5 hrs this quiescent phase of the aurora receeded southwards before the Auroral Breakup occurred around 10.45 U.T.
